Being one of the major transshipment ports along the coast of China, Yantai
PortGroup now has over 7500 employees and more than 20 subsidiaries. Its business
covers stevedoring, cargo storage, Ro-Ro & passenger service, distribution,
transshipment, container vanning and devanning, ship agency, cargo forwarding,
port engineering, machine manufacturing and repairing, etc. In 2005 the group
achieved an operating revenue of nearly one billion RMB (excluding those of
Longkou Port Area), with a total throughput of 45.06 million tons (including
a container traffic of 602,000 TEU) and a passenger traffic of 3.6 million
person-times.
At present, Yantai Port consists of four port areas, i.e.: (i) Zhifu Bay Port
Area; (ii) Western Port Area; (iii) Penglai Port Area; and (iv) Longkou Port
Area. In addition, there is another port area for future expansion, i.e. Laizhou
Port Area. YataiPort has 53 berths in total, including 44 ones for port operation,
and among those 25 berths are of over 10,000-DWT. The total quay length is
8,433 meters with the designed handling capacity of 16.95 million tons, supported
by yard area of 1.37 million square meters, warehouse of 96,000 square meters,
and rail road connection of 26,000 meters.
YantaiPort lies in the west coast of Pacific Ocean and in the eastern extremity
of ShandongBay, clutching at the mouth of BohaiSea. It locates in the core
zone of the International Economic Circle in northeast Asia, facing to Japan
and South Korea across the sea and adjacent to the resource giant ¨C Russia.
YantaiPort has now established shipping links with more than 100 ports in over
70 countries, such as Rotterdam, Dubai, Capetown, Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro,
Singapore, Yokohama, Inchon and Hong Kong.
