The Western Area of Yantai Port is situated in the west of the city proper, as well as besides the northeast sea of Dajijia Village in Yantai Economic & Technological Development Zone (YETDZ), with a distance of 35 km on the sea and a distance of 30 km on land to Zhifu Bay. The total water area is 500 square kilometers, and the five anchorage grounds outside the port cover an area of 60 square kilometers. The main channel enables the bulk-cargo vessel of 300,000-DWT to voyage in and out of the port in all weather days. The total land area is 50 square kilometers, including the port operation area of 24 square kilometers, and the port-related industries and the comprehensive logistics zones of 26 square kilometers. The total quay length is 19,000 m, sixty-five berths of 50,000-300,000-DWT are to be built with water depth alongside from ¨C14 to ¨C28 m. Large vessels of 250,000-300,000-DWT can directly accommodate at the berths. The port is expected to handle cargo of 200 million tons and container of 10 million TEU per annum, and turn itself into one of the main transshipment ports in northeast Asia in the 21st century.

¡ª¡ªThe Crude Oil Zone

    The Crude Oil Zone situates at the northeast section, where there 6 berths of over 100,000 DWT are to be built up (including two berths of 300,000 DWT for crude oil). Adjacent to the crude oil terminals, tanks are be constructed respectively for crude oil (600,000 cubic meters) and oil products (240,000 cubic meters). Furthermore, in the backup land area, a State SPR (Strategic Petroleum Reserve) Base is under planning, with an area of 1.8 square kilometers and a tank storage capacity of 5 million cubic meters.

 

¡ª¡ªThe Liquid Chemical Product Zone

    The Liquid Chemical Product Zone situates at the northwest section, where there 3 berths of 50,000 -100,000 DWT shall be built up.

 

¡ª¡ªThe Break-bulk Cargo Zone

    The Break-bulk Cargo Zone situates at the northeast section, where there 4 berths of 70,000-250,000 DWT shall be built up, with an alongside water depth varying from -14 m to -22.5 m.

 

¡ª¡ªThe Conventional Cargo Zone

    The Conventional Cargo Zone situates at the north section, where there 18 berths of over 50,000 DWT shall be built up along the coast, with an alongside water depth of -15 m.

 

¡ª¡ªThe Container Zone

   

    The Container Zone situates at the east section, where there 33 berths are to be built up, with an annual throughput capacity of 10 million TEU.

 

    In the backup land area of these terminals, there shall be a Port Logistic Park and a Port-related Industry Zone.
