Stacking capacity: Yantai Port can stack around 2.5 million tons of ore at one time.
Expedition Mode
A. Railway: The imported ores via Yantai Port are mainly expedited by railways. Both Lancun-yantai and Jiaozhou-jnan Railways are of double track with huge transportation capacity. In addition, the Port has complete special railway facilities. Currently the ores are mainly transported to provinces of Shanxi, Shandong, Hebei, Henan and Beijing.
B. Highway: The Port Highway connects directly with the expressway network of Shandong Province and east China, which makes road transportation very convenient. In 2001, there were nearly 300,000 tons of ores transported to steel plants via highways.
C. Waterway: Yantai overlooks northeast China across the sea with short distance over water. Now all large steel plants in Northeastern China have shown great interests in large foreign ore carriers handled by Yantai Port. To date, imported ores by large ore carriers have already been transported via Yantai Port to Yingkou Port, Jingtang Port and Jinzhou Port. |
