| ¡¡¡¡¡¾Geographic Location¡¿
¡¡¡¡ Yantai Port is situated at 37 ¡ã 32¡®48''N and 121¡ã 23'55''S, overlooking Liaodong Peninsula across the sea. The Port is adjacent to the city proper, with Zhifu Island to the north and Kongdong Island to the east as a natural barrier, and is known as an excellent natural port along the north beach of Jiaodong Peninsula.
¡¡¡¡¡¾Hydrology & Weather Condition¡¿
¡¡¡¡ Yantai enjoys a maritime climate, with four seasons distinct to each other and relative small rainfall. In summer, the climate is cool due to the effect of sea window. In winter, Yantai is often influenced by the cold current from Siberia and Mongolian highland, and therefore there is sometimes strong north wind accompanied by rain or snow.
¡¡¡¡¡¾Wind¡¿
¡¡¡¡The prevailing wind direction is southwest in spring, southeast and southwest in summer, southwest and northwest in autumn and winter. Generally the prevailing wind direction during the whole year is southwest, with a frequency of 10%. The frequency of calm wind is 12%. The strong wind direction is south, with the maximum instantaneous wind speed of 33.5 m/s. The south wind over 7 th degree averagely occurs 1.31 days every year.
¡¡¡¡¡¾Temperature¡¿
¡¡¡¡The annual average temperature is 12.5 ¡æ. The ever highest temperature occurred in Aug. at 38 ¡æ . The low temperature occurs in Jan., with the average figure of -1.9 ¡æ and the lowest one at -13.1 ¡æ¡£
¡¡¡¡¡¾Rainfall¡¿
¡¡¡¡The heavy rainfall usually takes place in July and August, accounting for over 50% of that in the whole year. The annual average rainfall is 737 mm, and the maximum one is 965 mm. The maximum daily rainfall is 208 mm. Every year, there are 8.5 days, on the average, with a daily rainfall not less than 25 mm
¡¡¡¡¡¾Fog¡¿
¡¡¡¡The dense fog under 3 rd degree often takes place from February to July, occurring from 1-9 O'clock in the morning. The average foggy days, with a visibility of less than 1 km which will affect the vessel's shipping, are 3.99 days.
¡¡¡¡¡¾Humidity¡¿
¡¡¡¡The annual average relative humidity is 64%. The average relative humidity tops in summer with the minimum value of 59%, and bottoms in spring with the extreme value of zero.
¡¡¡¡¡¾Tide¡¿
¡¡¡¡The tide in the port is regular semidiurnal tide, the rising and falling of tide lasts for almost the same period about 12 hours and 25 minutes. Relevant data of the tide are ¡¡¡¡provided as follows:

¡¡¡¡The prevailing wave direction on the sea outside Zhifu Bay is northwest, with a frequency of 7.4%. The strong wave direction is north by northwest, with a maximum wave height of 4 m. At the north entrance of the west basin, the prevailing wave direction is northwest, with a frequency of 6.7%. The strong wave direction is northeast with a maximum wave height of 2.6 m. The frequency of no-wave is 69.23%. The main characteristics of the tide in Yantai Port are small wave height and short period. Only 0.2% of the tides are more than 1.5 m in height.
¡¡¡¡¡¾Tide Current¡¿
¡¡¡¡The tide current in the port is irregular semidiurnal tide current.
¡¡¡¡¡¾Ice¡¿
¡¡¡¡From the mid of Jan. to the mid of Feb., there are occasionally some pieces of ice on the sea. Such ice is very thin and only lasts for a short time, so that will not prevent the vessel from shipping.
