　　Yantai Port Western Port of Yantai Co.,Ltd (Western Port Company for short) was established in July 2005. The Board of Directors is made up of 9 directors and Mr. Ji Shaobo, president of Yantai Port Group Co. Ltd, acts as chairman of the board. Meanwhile the Supervisory Committee consisting of 3 members was set up and Mr. Qiu Yanci, vice president of Yantai Port Group Co. Ltd acts as the chairman. Mr. Wang Yue, vice president of Yantai Port Group Co., Ltd also acts as the general manager of Western Port Company and Mr. Mou Zhengping, vice general manager of the company, takes care of the routine matters. Under the company are 5 departments, that is, Department of Comprehensive Management, Department of Engineering Management, Department of Finance Management, Department of Cooperative Development and Department of Production and Technology with 30 staff members temporarily. The Company is mainly responsible for development, construction and operation of the western port area of Yantai Port and the construction of Zifu Bay port area as well.

　　Western Port Area is within the jurisdiction of Bajiao Subdistrict Office and Dajijia Subdistrict Office of Yantai Economic and Technological Development Zone. Located in the middle part of the 200 km industrial belt of Yantai, this Port Area enjoys superb geographical position with deep and vast expanse of water, long wharf line and excellent natural conditions. According to planning, Western Port will be built into a storage, collecting and distributing center mainly for bulk commodities, liquid chemicals, crude oil and containers as well as a port-related industrial base. Construction of western port is planned to start in the first part of September 2005. Western port has pretty good development prospect and is expected to be built into a large-scaled port with handling capacity of one hundred million DWT. At the same time, Western Port Company is also responsible for the development of old port. Right now the constructions of the 2 nd period of the 3 rd phase project and # 3 pier project are both under intensive construction.

　　Western Port Company evolved from Yantai Port Construction Headquarter and Yantai Port 3 rd Phase Development and Construction Company. Starting from 1982 to now, the company has carried out the 3 phases of constructions of Yantai Port with total investment of RMB 2.643 billion. By completing 21 deep water berths of ten thousand DWT, the total annual throughput has increased by 12.16 million DWT. All the 3 phases constructions were awarded as ministerial quality projects, while the construction of the 1 st period of the 3rd phase project was awarded as national quality project and won Zhan Tianyou Civil Engineering Prize, the top one for national civil engineering. Actual expense of this segment is RMB 365 million less than the budget with a saving rate of 27.3%. The company has successively won Advanced Construction Unit for Key Project of the 8 th Five-Year Plan of Shandong Province and the title of National Advanced Unit for Project Construction Management in the period of the 8 th Five-Year Plan by Ministry of Construction. For 15 years, the company has been consecutively awarded Advanced Unit of Financial Final Settlement of Account by Ministry of Communications.
